It is very unfortunate but the fourth line was weakened by playing Chiasson. Stajan seems to thrive when he has two crash and bang wingers. I think this means that Chiasson is a fifth wheel. If the Flames sweeten a Wideman deal with Chiasson maybe they can get a draft pick on TDD.

Sweetening A Wideman deal with Chiasson? I think they might have throw in a few bags of sugar as well.

Gonna take a lot of sweet'n'low.
Pitt lost another D. As much as I would spew in my pants if Tre could dump a 1/2 salary retained Wideman on them, I don't see Rutherford biting without dumping Fleury back on us. But.... maybe we can get a 2nd from them for Jokkipakka. We have too many D right now & we still could bring in Kulak & Tspoon in a crunch. We can afford to to move Wideman & Jokki. Man if Stone can play well with Brodie, I say sign him soon, but... FFS no NMC in that extension. I would have no problem flicking the Yotes a 5th to do that.

I just want to say that was a fun game to watch last night!

Sh!t got bad the 2nd half of period 2, but we bounced back and earned a tough win.

Loved seeing the physicality and fighting, and the play Tkachuk made to set up Backlund for the tying goal was beautfil,

Go Flames!

I am worked NH in Buttfu(frank) no where so I could only listen to parts of the game on radio.

I was happy to see the guys come back for the win. Had the folded like a cheap tent it would have llikely been the season. Shows they got heart!

You know other teams have scouts and NHL.tv right? Wideman isn't going anywhere. There's no reason for the Flames to trade away useful assets just to get rid of him either since he's gone at the end of the year.

I think he is saying to trade Wideman and Chaison for a pick.......not useful assets just to dump Widedogs salary.

Chaisson and Bouma need to sit...what is Sam Bennett fighting Johansson for? He (Johansson) should have been getting his grill smacked when he was pushing Stajan around. Those two dopes are useless.

Kudos to Bennett for stepping up

Why do people keep pumping Elliott's tires? 4-1 and have to win in OT. Not all those goals were magical snapshots by Brett Hull.

Backlund is my favorite story of the season. I hope he gets nominated for the Selke.

Boston and Pittsburg are hurting for some playoff depth on defense.. We'll see how the deadline unfolds, but we shouldn't count out terrible contingency plans.

Those two teams lose out on some of the better options and we'll see if theyre desperate enough to give up a third in order to say they did something to "better" their team at the TDL.

Wideman is not only terrible and makes too much money he is also hated by the refs...what team wants that?

But he is not absolutely horrible as a #7 pp specialist. There has to be a chance with all he has going for him.

Edit: Pittsburgh is down to 3dmen. We have like 3-4 sitting in the wings. Retain half of Wideman and get a 4th. There is no way the refs will not call penalties against Sid's team. The Wideman hate is nullified by the League's love for Siddy the Kitty.

Again, those teams have scouts. Everyone knows Wideman is awful now, doesn't contribute offensively, is slow, can't play defence. There has to be at least a few unsigned AHL defencemen that would be a far better option than Wideman. If you're a playoff team, why would you ever want Wideman on the ice?

Refs don't like the Pens already (according o some of their fans on here).

Doubt Rutherford would care as his team needs injury depth and their window to win another cup is wide open this year.

Because he's been playing like a number one goalie and made big saves last night when they needed them and got the win. Sure, you'd like him to make a miraculous save on one of the second period goals, but the only questionable goal was the first one. Someone needs to tell the Flames that blindly firing the puck through your zone isn't an effective way to break out.

I'm not a GM running out of options with a fanbase quickly souring on my employment.

Sweeney is though. Who knows what's going on in his head during this pressure cooker of a season?

You could say most of those things about Zac Rinaldo. Yet he gave a 3rd for him when they were trying to replace the grit lost from Lucic leaving town.

Any scouting department would tell you Zac was on his way out of the League. Doesn't mean there wasn't a GM desperate enough to give a third for him because of "team needs".
